If Condemned: Criminal Origins gameplay is fierce and rapid, then Manhunt is a more thoughtful game, as genre belongs to the category of Stealth-Action. It should be noted right away that the stealth in the game is quite primitive and simple (nearest analogues – Splinter Cell Conviction Or recent Dishonored), however, the fascination of the gameplay is achieved by a huge variety of ways of murders, starting with the trivial “shoot” and “cut with a knife”, ending with exotic and insanely sadistic options, such as the opportunity to cut off his head, wrapping his neck with barbed wire, or gut his insides with a sickle. Thanks to this number of opportunities, you begin to enjoy the murder of every enemy. You smoothly sneak up to an armed killer, clutching a plastic bag in your hand, throw it over the enemy’s head and deliberately observe the beautiful animation of a painful suffocation. By the way, with the plot and atmosphere here is no worse than with gameplay. In short, the main character wakes up in a city filled with a variety of types of human garbage (skinheads, ready to score the main character with baseball bats, some kind of military with firearms, fanatical fanaticals, psychopaths, dressed in smearing masks and women’s dresses, lustling in the city hands). But the fact is that in this city “rented” the obsessed director-psychopath, in order to remove some terrible combination of the reality show and a snuff-video with real killings and our hero in the title role. A landfill, an abandoned prison, empty city quarters, a constant night and the stylization of each murder under the video (when our hero gives out his eyes with a fragment of glass, the camera at that moment demonstrates what is happening from different angles as if we were looking at the camcorders located throughout the city)-all this is folded into a roofing cocktail whose taste is impossible to confuse with nothing of others.

And finally the program of the program. Unique phenomenon in the world of video game violence. A game that, in the absence of aversion to a retro-pixel graphic style and the presence of a certain share of imagination and imagination in the player, makes his way to the bones, causing goosebumps throughout the skin. As I wrote above: Condemned is primitive cruelty, these are brutal fights with horse doses of adrenaline. Manhunt is a kind of maniac simulator, cruel and smart, methodical and resourceful, with frightening naturalism scenes of murders. But Hotline Miami is an irrational and incredibly driving ode to violence. It’s hard to describe the feeling when you enter the room with three bandits with a knife in your hand and begin to fiercely kill them to energetic electronic music. You seem to feel the game. As if under every sound of the soundtrack, you apply one cut wound. But the game is especially shocking if you look at what is happening as a whole: the murders committed by the player are not explained until the final. Here, a popular comparison of the game with acid trip is really appropriate-everything is so illogical and strange that you begin to perceive brutal killings and hallucinations as something natural and enjoy what is happening. The game seems to discard such trifles as motivation, showing us pure violence, violence on the verge of art, violence for no causes and consequences, without purpose and meaning.
